Everyone has problems with their memory from time to time. We forget important dates, important things to do, and chores around the house. Many people wonder how to increase memory power so they don't forget what they are doing. There are ways to do this.

There are some foods that are great for improving memory. Fish is one of these foods. Others include fruit, high-cocoa content chocolate, vegetables, dairy, and oatmeal. This is because they are low on the glycemic index (GI). Foods low on the GI take longer for your body to break down so they help keep your memory constantly active. Some types of foods and drinks do the opposite for memory. These foods are on the other end of the GI. While okay in moderation, alcohol, soda, white bread, and sugars can decrease memory. So reducing the amount of these foods in one diet can increase memory.

Puzzles, like crosswords and video game teasers, can improve memory. By "exercising the mind" you can improve its performance for other tasks. Improving skills with puzzles suggests improvement in memory and brain function.

Omega 3-fatty acids can help memory. They specifically improve brain function, focus, and communication between brain cells. Fish contains these acids, as do fish oil and flax seed oil supplements. Other supplements for memory are ginko biloba, folic acid, and sage oil.

While a good diet is essential to physical and mental health, supplements exist to increase circulation to the brain as well as maintain brain chemistry. B vitamins, Ginkgo Biloba and Ginseng are examples of supplements often taken for these reasons. Similar to cardiovascular exercise, some herbs such as Ginkgo Biloba improve the transport and absorption of oxygen into the brain.

Brahmi (Bacopa) is a well-known herb, worldwide used as memory booster and mind alertness promoter. Commonly known, as Indian pennywort and Bacopa monnieri in Latin, is an herb that helps in increasing mental capacity and decreasing mental stress. Widely used as antioxidant and in improving the brain cell functions.

Brahmi (Bacopa)  is a natural herb that has been used since ages for increasing the memory and concentration. Regular intake of this herb helps to improve the retaining capacity and as it is a natural herb therefore, it does not cause any side effect. If you are feeling stress in your life and this has caused unwanted forgetfulness, you may give a try to this herb. It will definitely help you to enhance your memory and concentration naturally. This herb has natural antioxidants. It calms your nervous system and provides relief from stress and strains of the life. Brahmi strengthens your immune system and prevents any inflammation of any part of the body. It is one of the products that help in various nervous disorders such as amnesia, brain injury, depression, hypertension, stroke etc.

Common Anxiety Herbal Medicine Remedies

The most commonly used herbal remedies are Valerian Root, Kava Kava, Chamomile, Lavender and Peppermint. In most countries throughout the world you are able to purchase these extracts in tablet form at most drug and grocery stores. These same stores will also usually stock the extracts in herbal teas. Health food stores will usually supply these remedies as ground or rushed herbs with which you can then use to brew your own teas.

Lavender - This plant is well known as an anxiety herbal medicine and has been used in Western Europe for hundreds of years. The dried lavender flowers can be brewed in teas - simply add two teaspoons of dried flowers to each pint of boiling water. The oils extracted from Lavender flowers, leaves and stems can also be used as topical remedies. An on the spot anxiety remedy is to pick a few fresh Lavender leaves straight off the plant, grind them between your thumb and forefinger and then rub your forehead with the lavender oil you have just extracted. You will then enjoy the soothing lavender scent every time you inhale.

Peppermint - Is known to relieve upset stomach symptoms associated with anxiety. Dried peppermint leaves can be brewed into teas and, similar to lavender, the oils extracted from the plant can be used as topical remedies.

Kava Kava - In the South pacific region an anxiety herbal medicine remedy known as Kava Kava is often used to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. Kava kava is generally available in a tablet, herb or drink form or it can even be chewed raw. It is recommended that Kava Kava is taken shortly before you retire for the night.
